'BP brandalism' - UK tar sands network

'BP brandalism' - UK tar sands network

British lead is a subversive piece aimed at highlighting the poisoness nature of Britons role as a world leader. The piece uses lead verbally, aesthetically and as a materially. Using the word play of lead in the title,'British Lead', a term used to describe the forces that have invaded
countries in the name of freedom and democracy. Aesthetically it is
imposing and dominating, at the same time the oil like sheen on the surface is delicate and attractive. Lead, as a material is a poisoness material that causes madness and death if ingested.

Altogether the effect of the piece highlights the insidious nature
of the deadly power struggle between the superpower of the world.
Particularly for oil and control over the access rights to it. The current
occupation in Iraq is brought to mind, and the poison that the armed forces are
spreading there.

We are led by our governments, and yet our world continues to suffer under a power structure that is designed to poison our world. 'British Lead' is a piece that simply and eloquently raises our awareness of these issues.

This piece works best as a pair. Its other half is 'American Lead'. This second piece is a stars and stripes made of the same material in the same manner. I would like to exhibit them together and with a sticker
next to the label indicating that this work is toxic.
